Join the Saltwater Medical family
we’d love to look after you
At Saltwater Medical we’re passionate about delivering a more caring, personal style of general medicine. We’re a little old-fashioned in our approach because we want to get to know you and your family. We value the trust you place in us and the relationship we will build with you over the years.
Some things in life deserve more time and attention – we believe your health is one of them.
If you’d like to become a Saltwater Medical patient, please call us on 07 5301 9828 to make your initial appointment.
Please Note – there is currently a longer than usual waiting period to obtain a new patient appointment due to high demand, limited capacity because of public holidays and doctor leave. We have a new GP joining us in mid May 2021 and expect waiting times for new patient appointments to moderate at that time. We thank you for your patience.
We warmly welcome new patients to the practice, who will be booked into a 40 minute time slot for their first visit (Long Consultation – Item 36). This allows your doctor the time to take a thorough history, perform any relevant examinations and attend to your medical concern in a comprehensive manner. We find the vast majority of our new patient consultations take between 20-40 minutes. However, if your initial consultation takes less than 20 minutes, or more than 40 minutes, you will be billed accordingly.
We ask all new patients to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to their appointment to allow our staff time to set up your file and provide you with a brief orientation of our practice.
If you prefer, you can download and fill in our new patient form below, prior to your initial appointment. When you arrive please give your completed form to our receptionist.
We look forward to being of service.
Please note the following important practice policies:
Drugs of dependence -For your safety our doctors will not prescribe S8 drugs or drugs of dependence at a new patient’s first appointment with our practice, nor will they provide prescriptions for these medications without an appointment.
Non-attendance / late cancellations / punctuality – We take pride in delivering high quality healthcare, which is why your appointment time is booked and held especially for you. If you no longer require it, or cannot attend, we require at least 4 business hours’ notice of your cancellation. We are usually fully booked, so giving 4 hours’ notice allows us to offer your appointment to other patients.
All appointments are confirmed 24 hours prior to your consultation. If we are unable to confirm your appointment (either by SMS or phone call) it will be cancelled and offered to other patients on the cancellation list.
New patients who confirm their appointment, but who fail to attend without giving four hours’ notice, will be charged a non-attendance fee equal to the initial consultation fee, and they will be unable to rebook until this fee is paid.
We pride ourselves on running on time (barring medical emergencies), so your punctuality is also appreciated. If you arrive unreasonably late for your appointment you may need to reschedule.
