Dr Nicola Kettleton-Butler – Practice Principal

Dr Nicola Kettleton-Butler is a highly-regarded local GP who has been practicing on the Sunshine Coast for a number of years. As our Practice Principal and co-founder of Saltwater Medical, Nicola is an Australian-trained GP who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. She went on to complete her specialist GP training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2014. Nicola has a special interest in children’s, women’s and senior’s health and is well known for her caring nature and her thorough approach to patient care. Nicola also enjoys a range of general practice procedural work, including iron infusions and Implanon and Mirena insertions. Nicola is a keen sports fan (especially tennis, golf and rugby) and enjoys camping, fishing and the coastal lifestyle.

Dr Rick Allen

Dr Rick Allen is a relatively new arrival to the Sunshine Coast, migrating here at the beginning of 2020 following 17 years of service with the RAAF. Rick is an Australian-trained consultant GP who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. He went on to complete his specialist GP training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2018. Rick has a special interest in aviation medicine, women’s and men’s health, sports medicine as well as sexual health and family planning. Rick also enjoys a range of general practice procedural work, including iron infusions and Aviation Medicals. He takes great pride in spending quality time with his patients to achieve exceptional collaborative care. Rick enjoys time with his wife and three kids in the pool or down the beach. He is a cricket and AFL fan and loves movies and music.

Dr Deborah Vercoulen

Dr Deborah is a highly experienced doctor who has been practicing on the Sunshine Coast for a number of years. She is an Australian-trained, specialist GP who graduated from Sydney University in 2004 and who completed her consultant Fellowship in General Practice in 2010. As a passionate GP, she is dedicated to constantly updating her skills and knowledge. During her many years practicing on the Coast, Dr Deborah has gained an excellent reputation for providing dedicated, down-to-earth and compassionate care to her patients. She joined Saltwater Medical because of our laser-like focus on providing kind, generous care and service to our patients, as well as our genuine commitment to teamwork – an ethos which she shares. Dr Deborah enjoys women’s health and complex paediatrics and is also able to provide a range of procedures including iron infusions, Implanon and Mirena insertions/removals, skin checks and excisions. When she’s not practicing medicine, Dr Deborah enjoys spending time with her family, reading and beach adventures.

Dr Eddie Hinch

Dr Eddie completed his Medical Degree at The University of Melbourne and then went on to complete his specialist training with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. As a dedicated GP, Dr Eddie also holds a degree in Bio-Medicine (with Honours) and a has a PhD in Cancer and Heart Medicine.
Dr Eddie is passionate about providing warm, friendly, and compassionate care to his patients, and he has a strong belief in having a comprehensive, generous approach. Dr Eddie also has a special interest in skin cancer detection and treatment having completed further training in the field of skin medicine. He is a member of The Skin Cancer College of Australasia (SCCA). He also enjoys a broad range of practice including paediatrics, mental health, skin procedures, and more complex chronic health issues.
When not practicing medicine, Eddie loves an active outdoor lifestyle and is looking forward to participating in a close, local community like Caloundra.

Dr Aaron Lewis

Dr Aaron has recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast with his wife and two fur babies (Daisy the Puggle and Toby the Beaglier). He is a warm, kind and thorough GP with a broad skillset that has been honed in regional settings like Kingaroy, Blackbutt and Dayboro. Dr Aaron is an Australian-trained specialist GP who graduated from Griffith University with his MBBS in 2009 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2018. Before he came to medicine, Dr Aaron studied infectious diseases and holds bachelors and honours degrees in microbiology and biomolecular science.
He loves paediatrics (he’s terrific with kids), but also has extensive training and experience in dermatology and skin cancer management, including advanced surgical procedures. He also has a keen interest in men’s health and extra training and experience helping patients experiencing mental health concerns.

Dr Lucy Crosland

Dr Lucy has recently joined Saltwater Medical after practicing in the local area since 2018 when she moved to Australia with her husband and family. She is a UK-trained specialist GP who graduated from the University of Leeds with her MBChB (Hons) in 2006. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2018. Before she came to medicine, Dr Lucy also completed a degree in Pharmacology.
Dr Lucy is a kind and thorough GP with a broad skillset and interests which include womens’ health, sexual health and seniors medicine. She also performs a range of procedures including Mirena and Implanon insertions/removals, minor skin excisions and iron infusions. Outside of medicine Dr Lucy enjoys spending time with her family camping and bushwalking.

Dr Thanu Shekar

Dr Thanu is an experienced consultant GP who relocated a few years ago from Melbourne to enjoy the Sunshine Coast lifestyle. She gained her Fellowship with the RACGP in 2012 and is in the final stages of completing her Masters in Skin Cancer through UQ. Thanu is a warm, down‑to‑earth GP with a diverse set of skills and training. She has a special interest in women’s and children’s health, along with skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Thanu also enjoys a range of general practice procedural work, including skin excisions, iron infusions and Implanon and Mirena insertions. Thanu enjoys the beach, coffee gelato and is also a tennis enthusiast. She played pennant level tennis fixtures and has officiated as a line umpire at the Australian Open Tennis Championship.

Dr Anna Vanderstaay

Dr Anna has recently moved to the Sunshine Coast, having previously worked in Central Queensland for six years. She is an Australian-trained specialist GP who graduated with Honours from The University of Queensland in 2009 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2018.
Dr Anna has special interests in women’s and children’s health (including those with neurodiversity/Autism), chronic disease and life-limiting illness, as well as Indigenous health having recently worked in the Torres Strait. She is able to provide a range of procedures including Implanons and iron infusions. Outside of medicine, Anna enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids and enjoys reading, camping, hiking and attempting to jog.
Dr Anna will be working as a regular locum at Saltwater Medical from time to time.
Dr Janelle Jamieson

Dr Janelle Jamieson recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast after serving for a number of years in the Australian Defence Force as a Navy Doctor. Janelle is an Australian-trained consultant GP who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2011. She went on to complete her specialist GP training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2018. Janelle has a keen interest in women’s health, children’s health and sexual and reproductive health. Janelle also practices a range of procedures including Implanon insertions and iron infusions. Janelle takes pride in spending quality time with her patients and enjoys assisting them to achieve better health outcomes. In her spare time, Janelle enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities, including camping and a wide range of beach and water activities.

Jenny Wright – Practice Nurse
Jenny is a caring, highly experienced Registered Practice Nurse who brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. During her career, she has held a broad range of general practice nursing roles and she has also worked in remote NSW indigenous communities, the defence force, and as a project manager for various government preventative healthcare projects. Nurse Jenny is a passionate advocate for immunisation and loves seeing all of the babies and kids that come through the practice. Jenny also enjoys wound care and working with diverse people at all stages of life.
In her spare time, Jenny dotes on her grand kids and loves our Sunny Coast beach lifestyle, bike riding and family life.
Eilidh Hambling – Practice Nurse
Eilidh is a warm and kind-hearted Practice Nurse who could also moonlight as a stand up comic if she ever wanted a career change. Eilidh initially trained and worked for many years as a general practice nurse in the UK, and recently updated her qualifications to become a registered nurse in Australia. Nurse Eilidh is a people person and enjoys providing a range of care to the patients that attend our practice.
In her spare time, Eilidh enjoys family life, long walks on the beach and good company.
Jen Kettleton-Butler – Practice Director

Jen is the Practice Director and co-owner of Saltwater Medical. She brings a wealth of business and leadership experience to Saltwater Medical and plays a significant role behind the scenes in developing our unique practice model and bringing the vision to life. Prior to starting Saltwater Medical, Jen enjoyed a fast-paced career in senior marketing and communication roles in Brisbane where she honed her business and leadership skills. Jen is a people-person who believes in the power of teamwork, respect, and collaboration to achieve amazing results. As a fourth generation descendant of the local Clarke fishing family, she also has strong ties to the Caloundra community which go back more than 100 years. She loves Caloundra and is also a passionate ocean woman and surfer who can be found out in the local lineups whenever she gets the chance.
Vicki Austin – Administration Officer | Executive Assistant
Vicki is the glue behind the scenes that helps Saltwater Medical run smoothly. She brings a wealth of administrative and payroll experience to Saltwater Medical and plays a significant role in supporting our team to deliver excellent care to our patients. Vicki grew up on the Sunshine Coast and is passionate about our local community. She enjoys family life, has 2 spoilt puppies and is a talented and creative person with an eye for great interior design.
Jo Glasscock – Reception Team Leader
With an extensive background in hospital and general practice administration, Jo is a highly experienced senior medical receptionist who also leads our bright, bubbly and helpful team of receptionists. Jo is kind hearted, warm and enjoys helping our patients while supporting our doctors and the rest of the practice team.
In her spare time, Jo enjoys family time, spending time with friends and she loves our Sunny Coast beach lifestyle.
Keri Gray – Medical Receptionist
Keri has an extensive background in five star hospitality management customer service. Looking to shift her career into the medical industry, Keri joined the Saltwater reception team in late 2021 and has quickly taken to her role with professionalism and warmth. Keri enjoys providing a welcoming atmosphere and supporting our patients, doctors and our team to deliver high quality health services.
In her spare time, Keri enjoys scuba diving, good food and wine and travel.
Kristi Pritchard – Medical Receptionist
Kristi has an extensive background in legal administration and customer service. After raising her family while working part-time, Kristi recently joined the Saltwater reception team and has quickly adapted to the multi-tasking challenge presented by the medical reception role. Kristi has a thorough and warm approach and she enjoys providing administrative support to our patients, doctors and the practice team.

Juls Rollo – Medical Receptionist
Juls has an extensive background in call centre customer service, the travel industry and virtual reception roles. Juls recently joined the Saltwater reception team and has taken quickly to the role and the many interesting challenges it presents on daily basis. Juls has a warm and friendly approach and she enjoys being a part of a team that delivers high quality health services.
