Dr Nicola Kettleton-Butler

Dr Nicola Kettleton-Butler is a highly-regarded local GP who has been practicing on the Sunshine Coast for a number of years. As our Practice Principal and co-founder of Saltwater Medical, Nicola is an Australian-trained GP who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. She went on to complete her specialist GP training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2014. Nicola has a special interest in children’s, women’s and senior’s health and is well known for her caring nature and her thorough approach to patient care. Nicola is a keen sports fan (especially tennis, golf and rugby) and enjoys camping, fishing and the coastal lifestyle.

Dr Cass Wys
MBChB UO | FRACGP
Dr Cass Wys is a popular GP who has been practicing on the Sunshine Coast for a number of years. Cass studied medicine at the University of Otago in New Zealand and went on to complete her specialist GP training in Australia. She received her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2014. Cass has a special interest in skin cancer assessment and treatment, as well as children’s, women’s and senior’s health. She is well known amongst her patients for her thorough, passionate and personable approach. Cass enjoys anything to do with the beach and is into most board sports, including surfing, skating and wake boarding.
Cass is available for appointments on Monday to Friday.
Dr Thanu Shekar
MBBS MU (HONOURS) | FRACGP
Dr Thanu is an experienced consultant GP who has recently relocated from Melbourne to enjoy the Sunshine Coast lifestyle. She gained her Fellowship with the RACGP in 2012 and is currently completing her Masters in Skin Cancer through UQ. Thanu is a warm, down‑to‑earth GP with a diverse set of skills and training. She has a special interest in women’s and children’s health, along with skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Thanu also enjoys a range of general practice procedural work, including skin excisions and Implanon and Mirena insertion, and is currently welcoming new patients.
Thanu enjoys the beach, coffee gelato and is also a tennis enthusiast. She played pennant level tennis fixtures and has officiated as a line umpire at the Australian Open Tennis Championship.

Dr Rick Allen

Dr Rick Allen is a new arrival to the Sunshine Coast, migrating here following 17 years of service with the RAAF. Rick is an Australian-trained consultant GP who graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. He went on to complete his specialist GP training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2018. Rick has a special interest in aviation medicine, women’s and men’s health, sports medicine as well as sexual health and family planning. He takes great pride in spending quality time with his patients to achieve exceptional collaborative care. Rick enjoys time with his wife and three kids in the pool or down the beach. He is a cricket and AFL fan and loves movies and music.
Rick is looking forward to meeting new patients and will be available for appointments Monday to Friday from January 2020.
Dr Peter Striegl
MBBS | FRACGP
Dr Peter Striegl Is a dynamic young GP whose medical career has seen him work in varying locations across Australia, from Hobart to Ballarat, Katoomba to Wollongong, and now Caloundra on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Peter graduated from the University of Notre Dame Sydney in 2013, going on to complete his specialist GP training in early 2018. 2020 has taken Peter and his young family around Australia on a ‘Locum’ work year (with some travel/camping thrown in) before his kids reach school age. Peter has a particular interest in sports medicine, children’s, men’s and senior’s health, but he also thoroughly enjoys caring for his patients at any stage of life. He is an avid sports fan both playing and supporting, and is particularly looking forward to getting back to the sun and sand.
Dr Peter will be providing locum services at Saltwater Medical from time to time when our other GPs are on leave.
Dr Robyn McIntyre

Dr. Robyn McIntyre is a highly experienced GP who trained in NZ and has lived and worked on the Sunshine Coast both as a fulltime and locum doctor. Robyn has extensive experience in all aspects of family medicine, with special interests in women’s health, paediatrics, mental health, travel medicine and chronic disease management. She prioritizes maintaining and improving health through optimum lifestyles and good nutrition. She has a passion for water sports and enjoys sailing and scuba diving with her family whenever she has the opportunity.
Dr Robyn will be providing locum services at Saltwater Medical from time to time when our other GPs are on leave.
Jenny Wright – Practice Nurse
Jenny is our wonderfully caring Practice Nurse and she brings a wealth of nursing experience to Saltwater Medical. During her career, she has held a broad range of general practice nursing roles. She has also worked in remote NSW indigenous communities, the defence force, and as a project manager for various government preventative healthcare projects. Nurse Jenny is a passionate advocate for immunisation and loves seeing all of the babies and kids that come through the practice. Jenny also enjoys wound care and working with diverse people at all stages of life.
In her spare time, Jenny dotes on her grand kids and loves our Sunny Coast beach lifestyle, bike riding and family life.
Jen Kettleton-Butler – Practice Director

Jen is the Practice Director and co-owner of Saltwater Medical. She brings a wealth of business and leadership experience to Saltwater Medical and plays a significant role behind the scenes in developing our unique practice model and bringing the vision to life. Prior to Saltwater Medical, Jen enjoyed a fast-paced career in senior marketing and communication roles in Brisbane where she honed her creative, business and leadership skills. Jen is a people-person who believes in the power of teamwork, respect, and collaboration to achieve amazing results. As a fourth generation descendant of the local Clarke fishing family, she has strong ties to Caloundra which go back 100 years. She is passionate about Caloundra and is also an avid surfer who can be found out in the local lineups whenever she gets the chance.
Kathy Gauld – Front Office Manager
Kathy has worked for more than 2 decades in reception and practice management roles and she brings a wealth of experience and kindness to her role. Kathy oversees all aspects of our reception and front office operations and looks forward to making our patients feel welcome and supported when they need to access our services.
Jo Glasscock – Medical Receptionist
Jo is an experienced medical receptionist with a background in hospital and general practice administration. She is kind hearted, warm and enjoys helping our patients as well as supporting our doctors and the rest of the practice team.
Michelle Webb – Medical Receptionist
Michelle has a background in legal administration and joined the Saltwater team as a medical receptionist in early 2019. Michelle is professional and bubbly and enjoys welcoming patients to the practice and helping them to navigate the administrative side of their health journey.
